Dave Wallace strongly supports the elimination of ethanol subsidies and the concurrent tariffs on imports. We support the elimination of the Death Taxes. Wallace advocates the repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard, or ethanol mandate,  and the elimination of the death tax. The free Market is the beat arbiter of cost effective solutions. The average American can chose the best, most cost effective solution. ALWAYS! we can no longer subsidize economically failed Solutions. The mandate increases the cost of the subsidy, it increases a less energy rich fuel as a component of gasoline driven transportation decreasing fuel economy. It directly increases the cost of Corn, while increasing shortages in it and concurrently on Wheat. The cost of corn and wheat based food stuffs causes the average citizen a great grocery budget burden, hurting every American Family. The elimination of the death tax will allow families to pass there businesses to their heirs. It will eliminate an unfair and counterproductive, and regressive. This will increase the fairness in our American Tax System. Wallace will work to promote no increase in the overall tax burden on each American, each Family, and every Business in America!   Dave Wallace is a signer of the Americans for Tax Reform pledge to not vote for increased taxes or not vote for any measure which would increase taxes indirectly. He is proud of this commitment to the American People. Here is the Americans for Tax Reform letter to it's members and those subscribing to the principles of ATR. Dear Friends, I wanted to bring you some important information regarding an upcoming vote in Congress on ethanol. Senator Jim DeMint has offered an amendment which repeals the Renewable Fuel Standard, or ethanol mandate, AND kills the death tax. Cutting at the heart of the government’s support for ethanol by repealing this expensive mandate to the American family, this fiscally responsible measure is something we urge the Senate and all members of Congress to support. Senator Coburn also has an amendment, which includes a $6 billion tax increase, while moving towards the same goal as DeMint by ending the ethanol tax credit and tariff. We do not support this amendment alone due to the tax increase proposal. Combined with Senator DeMint’s amendment, however, by abolishing the death tax, the Coburn tax hike is overwhelmed by a much larger tax decrease. The combination of these two amendments accomplishes a long standing goal of Americans for Tax Reform by repealing the ethanol mandate without raising net taxes. Taxpayer Protection Pledge signers should feel free to support the Coburn amendment provided they also vote for the DeMint amendment. The government’s mandate of ethanol usage distorts energy markets and raises prices for consumers. In order to fully repeal the government’s unfair, anti-free market support of ethanol, all three policies must be eliminated—the mandate, the tax credit, and the tariff. Only the combination of the Coburn and DeMint amendments completely kills the government’s support of the ethanol regime. The DeMint amendment which abolishes the death tax insures that repealing the ethanol tax credit is done in a way that prevents additional money from flowing to the appropriations committees. ATR has always opposed all forms of government support of ethanol. Our goal has been to repeal the ethanol tax credit, tariffs and the mandate totally…without raising taxes. The Coburn amendment, combined with the DeMint Amendment, accomplishes this longstanding goal.
