The Long Green Valley Association (LVGA) initially gave Mr. Prigel permission to build his creamery in writing. Then after he started building it the LVGA sued and appealed his creamery. Now he has over 100,000 in legal bills. To buy tickets goto www.friendsoffarming.net and use paypal donate link to buy tickets.WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP...Here in Northern Baltimore County we are fortunate to have many working farms. And while we admire the beautiful rolling fields and picturesque views, for the families who own them, they are businesses. Most businesses need to change over time to remain competitive-farming is not different. Farmers face the challenge of making the most of limited and fragile resources.Once such farm, Bellevale on Long Green Road, has been in the Prigel family for over 100 years. Two years ago they decided to build a small creamery so they could process their own organic milk, yogurt, ice cream, butter and cheese. The creamery will allow our community to enjoy fresh local produce, cuts out the middle man and may be the key to enabling the next generation of the Prigels to keep farming. Now, after completing construction with full state, county and Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Approval, the Prigels are facing a group of wealthy local home owners who have initiated a costly legal battle to stop the creamery after giving Mr Prigel permission to build the creamery. The Prigels, forced to choose between giving in to a small but determined opposition, or defending farming, they have chosen to defend their property rights.
