Maryland Government attempts to usurp private property rights

Hello Everyone,Before I get to the heart and immediacy of the matter I will begin by pointing out why my discussion is important to everyone. If this hasn’t already started in your community it very likely will someday and you should be very concerned.The flawed 5-4 Supreme Court decision in Kelo v. City of New London (Connecticut) wrongly opened the door for Government to violate the Constitutions 5th Amendment, which in this case was the improper taking of personal property for so-called public benefit, i.e. taking via eminent domain private property, which was then handed over to a developer under the guise of benefiting the public by increasing the tax base, creating local jobs and making “better” use of land deemed a blight or sub par in the governments eyes. In other words, the government considered that they could make better use of people’s homes and land for their own benefit. Citizens have been “allowed” 60 days from the time they received a non-descript post card very simply describing this same type of plan (some never received a post card or have only recently gotten one) to give input regarding this matter.The Carroll County Government (via State mandated “Smart Growth” policy) is attempting to usurp property owner rights by proposing to rezone hundreds of acres of residential and agricultural property, the largest being 1728 acres in Taylorsville (due west of the confluence of Rtes. 27 & 26) and 600 acres on the SE side of Rt. 70 in Mt. Airy to commercial through its Comprehensive Plan known as Pathways (see http://www.carrollpathways.org). In addition the plan also proposes to devalue property across the county by reducing the allowance ratio for subdividing property.There is widespread opposition to what is felt by a vast number of residents, farmers and business owners to be a misguided and poorly planned project, which is too in depth to cover in this notice.
