Update: Monday March 21, 2011 Does the President have the Authority?

Comparisons will often elucidate an issue and a ploy! Many times in Chess you see one play in a game called a gambit, and in a future game you happen to see the same gambit, and you can tell what is coming. We at RAM are humble and we are not soothsayers, just ones who have paid close attention to past Current Events, history. In this case we don't have to look too far in history to draw a parallel to the abstention of Russia and China. Recently when the Md. State House Of Delegates debated on the floor the Same Sex Marriage bill, the Republicans decided to shut up and let the Proponents stew in the their own juice. They basically abstained from the floor debate, and with that gambit came the defeat of the same sex Marriage bill, albeit temporary we conservatives are sure, as the left is unrelenting and we are sure will continue in future years to revive and pass this social legislation. . So basically abstaining from the debate the Left lost it's nerve and through the fear of backlash from the electorate and the fury that the passage of this bill would cause many democratic legislators lost there fortitude to pull the lever. Well a similar situation occurred recently in the United Nations. All along the current regime in the White House and especially during the election they touted their intention to bring about moral ascendancy of the US on the World stage. They also argued that the US was going to RESET THE US-RUSSIAN RELATIONSHIP. Well, after deliberation, when the vote occurred in the UN the two UN security council members, China and Russia abstained from the vote. And hence it was passed. But what were the motives of the abstention. We here in our original post claimed that this was going to give these two countries, China and Russia a foil that would allow them to argue that the US was acting like World Policeman, and interfering in the internal affairs of Sovereign Nations, and sure enough it didnt take long at all for this to pass, just today the Prime Minister of Russia, and (former head of the KGB), came out and said basically that same thing. We must remember this is a global Chess Game and when we see the Gambit being Played we will call it out. We also anticipate that in the foreseeable future when Russia and China see benefits that interference in the Sovereign Nations in close proximity and not so close proxity to them geographically would create they will most assuredly sight this as the precedent upon which they launch their actions. RAM does not condone the actions of the Libyian dictator we should have moved swiftly to secure our strategic interests and could have supported the Libyian rebels in a myriad of ways which would have aided them in the defeat of the Libyian strongman and still maintained our interests. In the case of Russia and their adversarial Neighbors Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia, and others,and in the case of China: Taiwan,Tibet, Nepal, and their neighbors in Central Asia this will be their precedent to take action. And it could be for a myriad of reasons told and untold. But also when they begin to move more aggressively in our Hemisphere in their relationships with US adversaries, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil and a host of other Nation states, not to mention a future rekindling of the Cuban relationship that we see is already started. It will be in the diplomatic argument that they are protecting these pariah Nations from US aggression. We can see them say that their justification is predicated upon UN Resolution 1973.
