After another day in Washington watching the Democrat Senate
accomplish its next strategic step, I offer the following:
Now is the time for people to protest senators' local offices daily
(while they are on Thanksgiving break), visibly, and consistently.
Once they are back in Washington on the 30th, they will be
re-entrenched behind the marble walls, and less impacted by home-town
citizen protests. The protests or rallies really should take place
anywhere there is lots of traffic, including near their offices,
symbollically pointing
out that the culprits are back in the neighborhood, geographically
closer to their constituents. Senate debate will begin once they come
back from Thanksgiving break, so we have THIS WEEK:
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thanksgiving Day
Friday
Saturday
Sunday
Our signage should be to inform and persuade citizens, and not to
alienate them by inflammatory rhetoric, like calling Obama a marxist,
even though he is. We want the uninformed and uncommitted to be given
a piece of info on the health care bill which they may not know and
cause them to think. We need to include a call for action, saying
"Call Senator So-and-so" with the phone number. We should set
ourselves up along the streets like the old Burma Shave signage... a
progression of signs
which can be read as drivers go along the road. By reading 4-5 signs
in a row, they have been given a piece of health care bill info and a
strategic action.
If you agree, please begin passing this on to others, even in other
states. We have important work to do, methodically and tirelessly
through the duration of this health care debate. According to
Republican senators' offices and a Gallery guard, health care debate
will be on the Senate floor interspersed between other items from
Monday, Nov 30th to sometime before Christmas. It will be inserted
into the schedule in bits and pieces. The goal of this action is to
cause previously uninvolved constitutents to contact their senators,
increasing the pool of citizens who are voicing their opposition to
what their senator is about to do.
