Two huge breakthroughs for the 'Madison Initiative' to empower states and rein in Washington!

I am honored to be actively be pursuing the Madison Amendment! As grassroots coordinator I want to announce some immense progress! But we need you to help us support the Madison Movement! Please give me a hand! And more importantly give our conservative movement the support To save our nation! How do we do that? We do what is necessary to end the Federal excess Spending! We end Unfunded Mandates! We end taxation without Representation! Of whom you ask? Those that are yet of voting age! Those that are yet Born! Those that had no choice in creating the debt Yet they above all else will be strapped with burden! Today you have a choice! You can either hide your head in the sand, or you along with all of us who understand The consequences of the reckless Federal spending! Then sticking us with the bill! And our children! But we have the advantage. We have truth on our side. And our state government offices can hold the key! You have a reason for living at this moment in history. Don't look at The other person in the room! You are selected! You are the chosen one to be in the breach! To stop Obama from killing America! From stopping the over taxation which we now see Is inevitably coming ! We know that this level of spending is unsustainable, even if we had hope of doing it! You must accept your destiny and stand up against this crazy, destruction of America! Here is what we are doing. And you can help! #1 On Thursday, Nov. 29 the Federalism Task Force of ALEC, the conservative, free market association of state legislators UNANIMOUSLY endorsed a "no runaway convention" law similar to the one passed by the NH legislature in 2012. This is a huge step forward for our strategy of passing such laws to empower the states and protect the Constitution! #2 We now have an offer from the "Advance Arkansas Institute" to MATCH 50 PERCENT OF ANY DONATION we receive from an individual or business by December 6th! The contribution is TAX DEDUCTIBLE and can be used to help to educate legislators about our strategy. Advance Arkansas is the official Arkansas affiliate of the State Policy Network, a national network of free market think tanks. #3 We now have just days to line up legislative sponsors in all 30 of our target states before legislative sessions begin in January. This includes 27 states with both GOP state legislative majorities and GOP Governors or the ability to override a Governor's veto. These 27 states alone have a majority of the U.S. population. We have identified potential sponsors in a more than a dozen states but there is much work to do. #4 We are also working with leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives on the idea of placing in the Rules package that will be adopted in January, 2013 a MADISON RULE that recognizes the authority of STATES under Article V and the 10th Amendment to limit the scope of a Convention they call for. Adoption of such a rule to prevent a runaway convention would be powerful statement in support of protecting the Constitution and empowering states. NOW is a critical time for action for our effort to restore a balance of state and federal power and protect our Constitution. Many state legislative sessions are short, and some don't meet at all in 2014. And the House won't vote on a Rules package again until 2015. Here is what you can do to help right now! #1 MAKE A DONATION BY THURS DEC. 6! Consider making or asking someone you know for a tax deductible contribution to "Advance Arkansas" by Thursday December 6th so our educational effort can receive 150 percent of that amount in matching funds. If you know a state legislator anywhere in America who might be interested in sponsoring or co-sponsoring a "Madison Law" to prevent a no runaway convention and empower the states to force Congress to propose an amendment, such as a balanced budget amendment, without the need for a Convention, let us know. Of course we are all busy with the Holidays, but if we don't have sponsors and supporters in 27 states by the beginning of 2013 legislative sessions that begin in January, the opportunity won't come again for TWO YEARS. We can't afford to wait. You could help us contact pro-limited government group leaders, opinion leaders, youth leaders, legislators, and staff in key states by phone or by email. There is also research and much other work to do. #4 REACH OUT TO OTHER POTENTIAL ENDORSERS AND SUPPORTERS Even if you have no time, you can pass this email on to others you know, especially to those whose public support you think would be helpful to our effort. We are asking opinion leaders to ENDORSE the passage of a Madison State Law and the "Madison Initiative" effort to empower states and protect our Constitution. ----------------------------------------------------- THE MADISON INITIATIVE: The Madison Initiative is a four part strategy to protect our Constitution from a runaway convention and restore a balance of state and federal power. #1 Passage of "Madison" state laws in a majority of states with a majority to strictly limit the authority of delegates to any article V convention, and to immediately replace and subsequently punish "faithless" delegates who violate the law and their pledge to obey it. #2 Eventual adoption of "Madison" state constitutional amendments in at least 13 states to bar consideration in that state of any amendment from a convention that the states who called for the convention did not authorize the convention to consider. #3 Adoption of a House "Madison" Rule to bar floor consideration of any measure to refer to the states for ratification, any Amendment from an Article V Convention that the states who called for the Convention did not authorize the Convention to consider. #4 Securing a "Madison" pledge by at least 41, and eventually 51 U.S. Senators to protect our constitution from a runaway convention and to empower the states by opposing floor consideration of any measure to refer to the states for ratification, any Amendment from an Article V Convention that the states who called for the Convention did not authorize the Convention to consider. ---------------------------------------------------- We call this effort which has both an educational and advocacy component the 'Madison Initiative' because James Madison believed the states had the same power as Congress to propose a specific Amendment to our Constitution when he said in Federalist #43: "It (the Constitution) equally enables the general and the State governments to originate the amendment of errors, as they may be pointed out by the experience on one side or the other" If states understand that they can safely limit a convention they call for to an up or down vote on a single amendment, 2/3 of the states can force Congress to propose an specific Amendment those states want WITHOUT the need to convene a Convention. Congress fears a Convention more powerful than Congress, and has always in American history chosen to propose an Amendment states want rather than call a Convention. If Congress and the states understand that 2/3 of the states can force Congress to propose an Amendment those states want, the entire balance of state and federal power has shifted and a path is open to new state-initiated limits on federal power. While getting 34 states to agree on a specific amendment will never be easy here are some of the possibilities: #1. A BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT or other some constitutional restriction on federal borrowing, spending or taxing. #2. A ban on UNFUNDED FEDERAL MANDATES on states. #3. A constitutional requirement that major FEDERAL REGULATIONS be approved by Congress, #4. Deny Congress the power to tax persons for failure to make a purchase, thus REVERSING the recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court on "OBAMACARE". 100 years ago the passage of the 16th and 17th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution began the acceleration of the growth of Federal power. In 2013, the passage of STATE laws in a the states with pro-limited government majorities could help to rein in the growth of Washington's power and put America back on a course towards more limited government.
