Gerald Rudolph Ford succeeded President Nixon and the following Congress displayed a callous disregard, an arrogance to the appointed new president Gerald Ford. Their overwhelming power in the House and Senate allowed such behavior. 38th President of the United States In office August 9, 1974 – January 20, 1977 Vice President None (1974) Nelson Rockefeller (1974-1977) Preceded by Richard Nixon President Carter In office January 20, 1977 – January 20, 1981 94th United States Congress United States Capitol (2002) Duration: January 3, 1975 – January 3, 1977 Senate President: Nelson Rockefeller Senate Pres. pro tem: James Eastland House Speaker: Carl Albert Members: 100 Senators 435 Representatives 5 Non-voting members Senate Majority: Democratic Party House Majority: Democratic Party Senate Party standings on the opening day of the 94th Congress 60 Democratic Senators 1 Independent Senator, caucusing with Democrats 37 Republican Senators 1 Conservative Senator, caucusing with Republicans Vacant: 1 seat Membership changed with two resignations and a disputed election. John Durkin (D) won that special election and was sworn in on September 18, 1975. The statistics noted here reflect the Senate’s party division following Durkin’s election.Revenue. The control of presidency was lost! The spending skyrocketed! While expenditures of '75 were exceeded by '77 Revenue! Fiscal responsibility is absent by the Democrat party! The year 1976 was the year the similar trick was played as in 2009! That year we shifted the budget year! And with amended budget period they jacked up spending gratuitously. It is time we see the light. We must role back spending to 2009 levels. The budget was increased on a vertical graph line in 76-77 and then again using similar methods but in plain view between 2008-2009! We must live up to the expectations of our founding Fathers and to our Children, our Legacy! It is time to the right thing!
